Left My Heart in Africa

9.13.2012

A year ago today, my husband and I were on our way home from the most incredible trip of our lives. We reminisce about South Africa at least once a week and talk about going back as soon as we can! Truly life changing. Truly amazing. And the scenery, I had to share…it’s breathtaking!

No one could have been more excited to receive the August 2012 catalog than me! Free People in South Africa?!  Yes, please!

After a few years of trying to pinpoint my personal style – a style that was mine and mine alone, a style that fit my body type, a style that wasn’t just picked out of the pages of Glamour or off of my favorite fashion blogs, I came to the conclusion it is Free People that fully embodies my personality. Delicately feminine but not too sweet. Laid-back with simple beauty. Soft with hard edges in all the right places. Free People is refreshing and speaks to my soul.

The August 2012 collection and catalog has to be my favorite of all time. Not only have I added most every item to my wishlist, including the Capetown Hooded Pullover, but South Africa has a special meaning to me. My husband and I visited South Africa, Zambia and Zimbabwe last fall on our honeymoon, and there isn’t one day I don’t think about that visit. It was incredible, life changing even. The feeling that radiates out of South Africa is hard to describe. As soon as the plane landed, I felt like I belonged. It felt like home – cozy and comfortable, yet radiating this powerful spirit that drew me in and has yet to let me go.  After seeing the new catalog, the lightbulb went off – Free People clothing evokes that same feeling deep inside me. And while a trip back to South Africa would be the ultimate, luckily the nearest Free People isn’t 18 hours away.
