Crop It Like It’s Hot

Birthdays mean you can do whatever you want. Dress how you want. Cry if you want to a la Lesley Gore’s hit from the 60s. Demand birthday weeks turn into a full-fledged birthday month. Whatever you want! So crop tops and birthdays are my new forever thing, a birthday tradition if you will. Best damn birthday tradition I say! Are you with me? I wore one last year in this skirt and top combo and this year with these fun pants found on clearance at Target for 5 bucks. I love this look, but I’ll be honest, I don’t love how it highlights my disproportionate body. I’d actually planned to wear this multiple times prior to the birthday but lost my nerve. So midriffs out we went for 34!

We met friends for brunch as this beautiful restaurant outside of Baltimore – The Woodbury Kitchen. Oh my gosh, when I tell you the food was amazing…the food was amazing! They are all about supporting local agriculture and have a substantial gluten free menu. They also call dinner “supper” which I kinda love. If you go for brunch, make sure you get the deviled eggs. To. Die. For.

My thing with the crop top is this…I believe everyone can pull it off, especially in a longer version with a higher waisted skirt or pant. It cuts right at that smallest part of your waist, giving you a nice, lean look. As long as the skirt or pant band isn’t too tight giving you the ol’ muffin top effect, you really can’t go wrong with it! Now what it doesn’t do very well is hide the fact that you gorged yourself on a delicious brunch. But again if it’s your birthday, who really cares! So are you with me? Will you join my crop top birthday revolution?!
