Happy Monday! Sorry all that there’s no Monday Musings post today. For the past week, all I can think about and focus on is Spring and the fact that it’s finally here! (Don’t let me down, March!) I don’t think I’ve ever looked forward to Spring as much as I am this year. Yesterday was gorgeous in Virginia. Not a cloud in the sky, bright and sunny and I could leave the house without a heavy jacket. It. Was. Incredible. After a long walk with the pups, I took a page out of their book (they are of course the sunbathing experts) and soaked in the sunshine as long as I could. Usually I’m tired and really feeling that lost hour, but this year I’ve decided it’s totally worth it.
I’m also craving a huge Spring update to the home. New bed linens, a few updates to the living area, a complete re-do of the outdoor deck decor….I want to bathe our home in lovely neutrals and bright whites to reflect all of that Spring sunshine pouring through the windows. A bedroom refresh is first on the list.
I can’t get enough of West Elm bedding. I’m loving the shades of grey from this duvet paired with these shams. With our white bedroom furniture, I can practically feel the peaceful and calm vibes the room would give off, and the neutral grey tones would complement our pale green walls that we’re just too damn lazy to repaint. While I’d love to go full on white, furkids pretty much prevent that from ever happening. And of course, who doesn’t love polka dot sheets?
We aren’t too big into art in our home. I like art, but most of it I don’t understand. We lean more towards landscape photography of our travels and pics of the pups. But there’s something about these prints from Wallzilla that I really, really like. They’re pretty minimalistic, fit in perfectly with neutral tones and bonus, are a very inexpensive way to add some pops of color to your walls.
H&M is my go-to for pretty and inexpensive trinkets for the home. I change my mind quite a bit when it comes to decor, so for things like vases, I always check out H&M first. I love this blush color vase and this grey metallic vase. They’d work just as perfect alone as they would with a few, fresh poseys. And I’m all for multiple reminders of Spring around the home in every nook and cranny! What’s first on your Spring 2015 home refresh list this year? (And Spring cleaning is not an acceptable answer!)
