Happy Monday! How was the weekend? As usual way, way too short over here. Did you catch the Grammy’s? Did you, like me, keep hoping Beyonce would come busting out on stage and save what I thought was a mediocre, lackluster show? All I could keep thinking about was Bey and J’s performance from last year. I know some found it quite risqué, but I loved every minute. After going to bed following Hozier and Annie Lennox (my favorite performance of the night, btw) I woke up to see Mr. Kanye West pulled out a play from his 2009 Grammy’s playbook. This post is not about Kanye, don’t let the title fool you. I just hope there’s someone in that family that will teach little Miss North about respect.
With Valentine’s Day right around the corner, I wanna get sappy here for a minute and let you all know how much you mean to me. Thank you all so much for reading everyday, sending your comments, your emails. It makes my heart so very happy! We usually stay in for Valentine’s Day. The hubby whips up a fantastic meal, complete with an over the top dessert. And we snuggle in with the furkids on the couch fat, happy and ready for sleepy time. #straightuphomebodies But this year, we’re taking advantage of the long holiday weekend (thank you Presidents!) and heading to Charlottesville, VA later this week. Thursday evening kicks off with a little beer pairing dinner at one of our favorite spots. And then it’s nothing but relaxing and wine tasting on the itinerary for the rest of the weekend. I can’t tell you how much we need this!
If you have romantic plans for the weekend, you better dish! In the meantime, the below links go well with morning coffee and Monday work procrastination.
Tickle Me Pink. If you have over the top plans for the weekend, you need an over the top kinda dress. Enter Rihanna. Her dress from last evening is causing quite a stir. I just have one question for you…who wore it better?
Friends Furever: Have you seen this Android commercial? It just melts my heart. The elephant! The puppies! Thank goodness for cute and adorable furbabies.
Valentine Truths: 1 in 5 women buy something for themselves to celebrate the big day (Nothing. Wrong. With. That.) And Americans will spend about 18 billion dollars this year! And how about on your pets? 700 million. You can read more of the “unromantic” truths here.
Cheers to Love: Valentine’s Day isn’t complete in our house without a bit of sparkling bubbly. Need to stock your fridge? Pick up some of best sparkling wines and champagnes for your lovey-dovey weekend.
Candy is Dandy: So I know this article is two years old, but did you know certain candy heart sayings have been retired? You know, the conversation hearts with “U R COOL” and “DIG ME”? I still love these sugary little candies. They’ve actually been around since 1866, and the company sells six million pounds of them in the weeks leading up to Valentine’s Day! You can see the full retired list here. While I understand forgetting messages like “FAX ME”, did we have to get rid of “LETS READ”? I feel like that’s pretty important. New sayings include “TEXT ME” and “UR HOT”. What’s next…”TOTES”? (I’d kinda like it if they added that one actually…)
