It’s 2015 so…Wine Not?

Happy first week of 2015! How’s it going so far? Have you set any goals for the year? Made any resolutions? Break any resolutions? Yeah I ate pickle chips, and I wasn’t supposed to…whoopise! But the MIL brings the best ones from the Midwest that are coated in pickly seasoning goodness and well…in my mouth they went. (They are so good!)

So today is my first day back to work in two weeks, and I can’t tell you how much I enjoyed the time off. Who am I kidding, of course I can tell you! My ultimate goal, whether it takes one year or five years or ten years (god forbid), is to find a way to make a living on my own terms, using my talents to do something I enjoy. There you go universe, it’s out there. Make. It. Happen.

We did a lot in these past two weeks, but my very favorite tradition during Christmas is a visit to one of our favorite Virginia Wineries, Sunset Hills. It’s housed in a gorgeous 1870’s barn that was restored by the Amish. They have beautiful grounds for when you can actually enjoy the outdoors, and they make pretty exceptional wines. We pack a lunch of homemade smoked pork loin sandwiches (leftovers from Christmas Day dinner), buy a bottle of wine or two or three (I am an OMBG after all) and spend the afternoon laughing and catching up with both family and friends. It’s one of those moments that is just so cozy. And good. Good for the soul.

And what better way to feast on Christmas leftovers and drink copious amounts of wine than in a cozy, long-sleeved tee? I have quite the t-shirt collection, some way past their prime dating back to high school days. In fact, I’m wearing an oh so glamorous tee from a student council conference in 1999 as I type this bad boy. Just say it. Hoarder. But I love this Wine Not tee. You know how some tees either are too clingy or too stiff or not fitted enough? This tee is none of that.  It’s pretty damn perfect, and it’s sorta expressing my motto this year – Wine Not? It’s like Why Not but with wine because as well all know, wine makes everything much better. Even a motto. So here’s to the first week of 2015. Watch out. I’m gonna be Wine Notting it all over the place.

Thank you! Happy New Year, Elle! I know. I walked into work today, and I just can’t do it anymore. To some I know I sound like a whiny, entitled brat, but there’s no heart. I want heart. And soul. I need both of those in my day to day. I know you get it too! Have a great first week of 2015, and hugs to Mochi!

I know! 🙂 It was good! It still hasn’t ever been as good as it was…I don’t know how many years ago it’s been. I think when we first started going there is when it was really amazing. But I really liked this one! We all need to go sometime. I miss you guys.
