If you’ve been reading along at Happily Ever After the Wedding lately, you’ll know one of my main goals now when it comes to fashion is to focus on adding classic pieces to my wardrobe over more trendy items. I want items in my closet that will never go out of style and are versatile when it comes to styling. It’s all part of downsizing what I do have and finally being able to see what I own in my closet! It’s a first for me, not having $200 worth of “stuff” showing up in a box on the front door. Stuff that would more than likely sit around in the closet with tags on until the next donation run.
One of those items I’ve been wanting to add to my dress collection is a seersucker shift dress. To me, there’s nothing more classic or more perfect for spring than seersucker print. And while my style is really all over the place from boho gypsy to wannabe rocker to girly and ladylike, I do have an inner love for everything preppy, tailored and traditional. So when Nantucket Brand offered to send me a dress to style, I jumped at the chance! And bonus!… They sent the handsome hubby (I always tell him he should have been a model) a pair of seersucker shorts to rock as well! He’s also been going through the closet transition, finally tossing old polo shirts from his college days (his mom will be thrilled they are finally gone!)
I have to tell you, this dress is beautiful. This isn’t your normal seersucker shift dress, made of a poly/cotton blend. This dress is 100% pure natural cotton that allows for the softest feel and is super comfortable. I chose to throw on my trusty jean jacket to give the outfit a casual look, which is more than likely how I’d wear this dress during the day to lunch with the ladies. However it’s so versatile I can also see wearing this dress to a spring or summer wedding, adding some dainty jewelry and a scarf as a shoulder wrap with a pair of heels. And I won’t lie. I did help the hubby with some print mixing! I thought it was a nice twist with the seersucker print for once again, going more casual. However these are the perfect shorts for pairing a crisp, white button down for a dressier, more traditional look.
Seersucker, springtime and The Specketer’s….a perfect match!
