The vodka infusions are finished, and the booze has been delivered! I came across the cranberry and lime infused vodka on Pinterest and thought the deep, dark red of the cranberries paired with the green of the lime rind not only sounded delicious but also looked so festive for the Holidays!
I first rinsed off the cranberries, throwing out some of the squishier berries and keeping smaller ones that would fit through the bottle top. I used a toothpick to poke a hole straight through the berries to let some of the flavor loose. I found the bottles at Home Goods for $4.99 a bottle! If you live near a Container Store, they sell the round ones seen in the first photo. I liked these from Home Goods, as they were a bit different with the green glass.
I alternated the cranberries and lime rinds when filling up the bottles. One thing I did that I probably shouldn’t have is leave some room in the bottle, thinking the fruit might need room to expand. The cranberries ended up floating up a bit and never did sink back down. I recommend filling the bottle full of cranberries. Once the fruit was in, I started filling up the bottle with vodka. I think all in all these 375ml bottles took about 12oz of vodka.
You can see here how the fruit floated up towards the top of the bottle. I also added about 2tbsp of sugar on top after everything was done to counteract any bitterness. The longer the mixture sits, the sweeter it will be.
I added some jingle to the bottles and gave them a decorative label! Since the bottles looked so pretty, I didn’t strain prior to gifting. If I would have had more time, I also wanted to create a recipe book full of yummy recipes to create with the cranberry lime vodka…maybe next year! Putting this gift together was so easy! If you are in a time crunch for gift giving this year, there is plenty of time to whip up some infused vodka or tequila! Bottoms up!
