First Ladies: Inaugural Style

In honor of today, I thought I would share some images of Inauguration Style – both past and present. We have had some stylish First Ladies, no doubt. But for me Jackie Kennedy Onassis takes the number one spot. My mother always loved Jackie O. and her style. I completely agree!

As you might know, DC isn’t really known for its “style”. Though I do think in the past ten years, there has been a definite improvement. I still see shiny, nude pantyhose on ladies at work (the tights I used to wear for dance). And, I see so many women wearing horribly, ill-fitting pants everyday in the halls with sagging crotches, muffin tops, floods, droopy butt. Dress pants without any sort of stretch are made for one body type. If you want to wear em’, get em’ tailored! So, I enjoy Inauguration Day and think it’s great way to see how DC style is getting better every year.

I loved seeing not only the Inaugural Ball Gowns from years past but also the Inauguration Day ensembles. The hats, fitted coats and accessories – definite winter inspiration.

How fantastic does Mrs. Laura Bush look in white? I love the winter white and nude, pointy-toed heels!

And that leads us to the very, VERY stylish First Family. Did you like Michelle’s new do? Or that Malia wore H&M (a dress that she already wore during the DNC?!) Did you know Sasha broke tradition by wearing pink? I’m excited to see what tomorrow brings and who Michelle decides to wear. Want more First Lady fashion?
